Art In Bloom Site • Art In Bloom Press Release Art Blooms in OldTown Medford Once again This Mother’s Day Weekend MEDFORD, Or- April 7, 2010 On Mother’s Day weekend OldTown Medford will host its 10th annual Art In Bloom in celebration of fine arts, flowers, local wine and food. Art in Bloom is a spectacular springtime festival showcasing fine artists from the west coast. The event features live entertainment, art, food, and floral workshops for adults, children’s art activities, cash awards for artists, and more. New downtown streets will be added to the festival this year with its coverage now spanning from 6th-8th St. and from Riverside to Front, and now continuing down Central in front of the Craterian. Approximately 120 artists and horticulturists will be selected to exhibit and sell their work during the two-day festival. Revenue generated will fund future Art in Bloom events and help support youth art education programs. There will be additional children’s activities at the Festival this year including a petting zoo and a drawing contest with great prizes! Art education is one of the chief goals of Art in Bloom, and over the years the non-profit organization has funded art projects at North High, South High, Phoenix High and Medford Independent School. In the present economy school budgets have been forced to cut programs like art. Art in Bloom was able to provide funding for art projects within Medford schools last year in their time of need. This year Art in Bloom will feature student art from local schools “Best of the Best” art show. A People’s Choice award will be given to the winning student. If you would like to make a donation to support art education in local schools and Art in Bloom please visit www.art-in-bloom.com or mail a check to P.O. Box 5645, Central Point, OR 97502. New this year, Art in Bloom is currently accepting artist applications for birdhouse entries. For an application and more information visit www.art-in-bloom.com or call 541.941.1620. Applications must be received by May 6 and entries received by May 7. The Birdhouses will be auctioned off at the annual Mayor’s Reception event on Friday, May 7 at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center at 6pm. The Ashland Peace Choir will be giving a special performance at this event and local restaurants will be offering hors d'oeuvres. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this event. There will be a $10 suggested donation upon entry.
